Hi, Everyone Just a note to remind you that there are some things we can not let the residents keep in their rooms. Spray disinfectants or any chemicals, any over the counter medication, and rubbing alcohol are the most common items. This is a state regulation. Another resident could get a hold of these things and ingest them. Our housekeeping dept. has disinfectant spray that they can use daily if needed. Just ask them the next time they are cleaning your room. We also do not want them to have powder. It can be very slippery on our floors and be a fall hazard, as well as not good for our resident with respiratory issues, and can be caustic to our people with fragile skin. We have creams, lotions, and skin protectant that is approved and can be kept in their room. Just ask any staff member.
Any over the counter meds HAVE to go thru our nursing dept. I know that they should be able to keep these things at bedside and they can…we just need to go thru a process to make sure everyone is safe. If you have bought these things for your loved one and it is not in the room, check with me, I have a lot of the stuff in my office. We recently had a state inspection and these things were noted. Thank you for your understanding and if you have any questions, please see me.
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you joy in the New Year.
